Michelle Zapanta: Climb past weight-loss plateaus
http://www.elpasotimes.com/health/ci_13235821
The first thing to remember is that most people reach a weight-loss plateau at some point. It may happen as early as three weeks into your workout routine or even as late as six months to a year. Because human bodies function at different capacities, it is impossible to pinpoint when it actually is going to happen.
Lose Weight Fast or Lose Weight Slow?
http://www.betterbodyjournal.com/health/lose-weight-fast-or-lose-weight-slow
I don’t know where this rule originated, but let’s look at some myths related to this “lose 1-2 pounds a week” rule.
[the one thing I realized about the 1-2 lb or "lose weight slowly" suggestion is that it gives you time to learn how to be thin. As a fat person you eat what and how much you want without really thinking...or caring, about the consequences. By losing weight slowly you become accostomed to living and eating as a thin person. In taking your time to reach your goal you've learned the lessons that will keep you at the weight you want to be instead of falling back into the same old fat mindset with the same old results.]
Chew small bites to lose weight

Previous studies have shown that eating smaller bites may slow down eating, but doesn't necessarily have an effect on overall food intake. And keeping food in your mouth longer gives your senses more time to become satisfied, note Dr Cees de Graaf, at Wageningen University in the Netherlands, and colleagues, and when the senses are satisfied, people tend to eat less.

Quick Little Tweaks to Lose Weight Faster
"I like these simple changes you can make to get trimmer and more toned without having to make a totally grand transformation. "
Baby steps will help you lose weight...and keep it off!
“People used to tell me: ‘You’re in your late 40’s—you can’t take off the weight,’” she remembers. “Well, I’m 51 and look at me! I eat everything and yet I’m medicine-free, full of energy and in the best shape of my life!”
Truth or myth? Exercise results in weight loss
Does exercise help people lose weight? It's a hotly debated subject.
How a "Foodie" Lost 42 Pounds WITHOUT Dieting
Pam Anderson, a food columnist and cookbook author, faces challenges that would tax any dieter. She tests -- and tastes -- every recipe that she creates. She spends two or more days a week in a test kitchen, where she might sample three dozen versions of a chocolate cake or 16 versions of a pot roast recipe.
That led her to her top weight of 192 pounds.

Creating a Weightloss journal
It's time to get serious about my weight and take control since my weight has gotten completely out of control. In my quest I've decided to put together a step by step guide to help me get a handle on my weight before I become a casualty and statistic of my obesity.
Today is day one. To find out what I want and where I'm going I'm creating a weight loss journal to help guide me and hopefully keep me motivated.
Creating a Weightloss journal
How to Create your Weight Loss Journal
"You can track the foods you eat and that calorie content, the exercises you do and for how long and any thoughts or notes for the day."
Creating Your Weight Loss Plan
"A realistic plan is one that changes your lifestyle gradually. To do this, they must take your own lifestyle and personality
into consideration. "
How to Create a Weight Loss Journal
"In order to succeed at any given goal it is important to keep this goal foremost in your mind. It helps even further if you actively make notes of your progress, barriers and solutions to problems."
This journal is mine to use in any way I want. I can get creative, use quotes and pictures, paint and draw. I want to make it unique and a place I'm happy to visit as I keep track of what I've eaten , calories, exercise, thoughts on moods and feelings, etc.
I've broken my journal broken down into sections.
*Section one includes my diet/meal plan, goals for calories, exercise and weight; with goals broken down into long term and short term.
*Section two is my tracking area with daily food, exercise and weight logs.
*Section three is my daily goal sheets that include my meal plan, a diary section for my thoughts and feelings, and a gratitude section. download daily diary
*Section four is a photo journal of myself that I've taken along the journey that includes measurements.
